Workshop description and topics
The Workshop on Intelligent Systems: Data Management and Control will be an international forum for researchers and practitioners interested in the intelligent data management systems and intelligent control systems domains. It is an opportunity to present and observe the latest research, results, and ideas in these areas.
Data management is the development, execution and supervision of plans, policies, programs and practices that control, protect, deliver and enhance the value of data and information assets. The fields of Data Management are concerned with several large issues, such as: data modeling, data mining, metadata discovery, data movement, data quality and data security.
Developments in the area of Intelligent Control Systems have resulted in more intelligent, sensitive, and accurate methods of mathematical modeling and analysis of data processing, knowledge based control systems of data acquisition, or the adaptive control systems in data management processes.
The workshop will focus on the intersection between Data Management and Intelligent Control Systems. Developments in these areas have resulted in more intelligent, sensitive, and accurate methods of data acquisition and data processing, as well as adaptive and robust control in manufacturing, in environmental and medical monitoring systems, as well as in process inspection, quality control, diagnostics, and other processes.
The papers must approach the problems of these two topics from various perspectives, and may fall into the intersection of them with others topics like:
-
Information retrieval
-
Information extraction for the Web
-
Soft computing (fuzzy systems, evolutionary algorithms, neural networks, swarm intelligence) for data management
-
Knowledge-based and Expert systems
-
Intelligent control systems
-
Mobile agents
-
Modelling and simulation of data acquisition and data processing.
The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers and developers from the domains described before, in order to discuss current scientific and technical results on creating and using automated systems by means of artificial intelligence techniques in the management of data from complex real-world problems. The workshop welcomes submissions of original, high-quality papers reporting on theoretical models or on concrete systems that have been or are being implemented.
Submission of papers:
We invite submissions in the form of:
- full research papers,
- short papers (work in progress), system descriptions and software demonstrations.
Papers of up to 8 pages (IEEE conference style), must be submitted electronically through EasyChair. Research papers must contain original research results not submitted and not published elsewhere. Extended abstracts (up to 4 pages) may be submitted for short papers and system presentations. Papers will be refereed and accepted on the basis of their scientific merit and relevance to the Workshop topics.
Publication:
The extended
abstracts of the papers accepted for presentation will
be
available to the participants at the conference site.
Papers accepted and presented at the workshop and the extended versions of the short papers will be published as special issue in the Journal of Knowledge, Communication and Computing Technologies (JKCCT, http://jkcct.org).
